beyond the sea

Yesterday I was playing around with yarns, after my good friend Yakumo sent me like 10 (?!) mails asking me to make some Amigurumis... I didn´t try that technique yet. So I started making a simple circle, that looked a bit funny, especially when several of them were put together..

The result: a weird "coral look" brooch, that I decided to make black and red, simply because the clothes I wanted to wear had those colors. My colleagues were kinda freaking out with my new accessory. 

I was too... :)

Lego broochs

Hello folks!

I´ve been quite busy these days, preparing orders and learning deutsch... and playing with Lego, of course. Here I post some pics of the last broochs I made. And with one of them you are gonna have to use your imagination since it´s just an abstract form, but I find it cool and original ;)
The others: robot, car... and a kind of weird airplane.

Geeky project!

I am already back home in Spain, and oh Lord, how hard is to say "bye" to everyone in Germany (did I already tell you how much I love that place?). Actually, my passport expires next week and this was my last runaway in a while, I guess. I try and post some pics of my trip soon.

Before starting my holidays I had in mind a little project which is somehow connected with one of my last posts, the one of Muji+Lego. Basically because my next broochs are totally made of Lego pieces... YES! here are some prototypes, and I hope to have the definitive ones soon!

Ya estoy de vuelta en España, y Dios! que difícil es decir adiós a todos en Alemania. De hecho, mi pasaporte vence la semana que viene, asi que esta fue mi última escapada en un buen rato, supongo. Intentaré subir algunas fotos pronto.
Antes de irme de vacaciones empecé a trabajar en un nuevo proyecto que de alguna manera está conectado con uno de mis posts anteriores, en el que hablo de Muji+Lego. Basicamente porque mis próximos broches estan totalmente hechos con piezas de Lego.. SI! hice a los prototipos, y espero tener pronto los definitivos que saldrán a la venta!

Hey there!!!

haven´t post for days.. I feel ashamed about that! But I am still here. Hope everything´s great for all of you. This month is my birthday, so I cannot be more excited (yeah, I´m not 30 yet, so I can celebrate with joy haha). That´s the reason why my boyfriend booked me flights to Germany... yeah, Germany is a big wrapped present, with a big bow on top! :) Good that we are gonna spend Valentine´s Day together, isn´t it? 2 weeks together feels pretty cool.

Angels

Hello February!

Month of Love, since on the 14th we celebrate Valentine´s Day... the most romantic day of the year. Too bad I´m always too far away from my "Valentine" to celebrate with him. There´s nothing Skype cannot fix, right?
I cannot help feeling romantic these days, and I thought I had to prepare something special. I always admired a paint by Rafael, called Angels, which I´m sure all of you know already:

I love to work with felt and fabrics, but sometimes I like trying my luck with other materials, such as paper. That´s how I could make some cute broochs with one of my favourites paintings ever. They are resistant, since I worked with cardboard, several layers of newspaper and finally... varnish.
I know, it sounds like a lot of layers :)
The final result is this, and I wear them on my coats, cardis or shopping bags:

Hola Febrero!
El mes del amor, ya que el 14 es el día de San Valentin... el día mas romantico del año. Que mal que siempre tengo que celebrarlo lejos de mi "Valentin". No hay nada que Skype no pueda solucionar, verdad?
No puedo evitar sentirme romántica en estos días, y pensé que debía preparar algo especial. Siempre admiré una pintura del pintor Rafael, que se llama "Angeles", y que estoy segura que conocen de sobra.
Me gusta mucho trabajar con fieltro y telas, pero a veces también me gusta probar suerte con otros materiales, como por ejemplo: papel. Así es como hice estos broches, con los angeles de aquella famosa pintura. Son muy resistentes, ya que usé cartón, varias capas de papel de diario y finalmente, barniz.
Lo sé... suena a montón de capas :) Los llevo en mis abrigos, cardigans o en mis bolsos de tela.

Köln shines!

Today I woke up in Cologne, and what a surprise: the sun was shinning! Don't know if so far, I had a terrible bad luck, but it was cloudy, rainy and cold all the time. And today it's just beautiful (and cold, of course). I recommend you coming to this city. It's big, full of little shops where you can browse between clothes of famous labels such as Zara, COS, H&M... to independent designers, especially from Scandinavia (which I admire for the simplicity of their clothes). Yesterday has been a successful shopping day... I love SALES! (who doesn't). The bad thing: didn't have time to go to a second hand shop yet. Let's see if we have time today... apparently my boy is planning a full night -DANGER!-
I feel so happy this morning that I need to post my beloved felt suns... they are shinning on this city today. It's so easy to match colours and play with the shapes. I wear them all year long, to cheer up even the darkest day :)

Hoy desperte en Colonia, y con que sorpresa!: el sol estaba brillando. No se si hasta ahora habia sido mala suerte, pero siempre esta nublado, llueve y hace frio. Y hoy esta simplemente lindo (pero frio, por supuesto). Les recomiendo darse una vuelta por esta ciudad. Es grande, llena de pequeñas tiendas donde revolver ropa de marcas famosas como Zara, COS, H&M... hasta diseñadores independientes, especialmente de Escandinavia (a los que adoro por la sencillez de sus diseños). Ayer fue un dia de compras bastante provechoso... Me encantan las rebajas (a quien no?). Aun no he tenido tiempo de pasarme por ninguna tienda de segunda mano, pero espero tener algun ratito libre... aparentemente mi chico esta planeando cosas para esta noche -PELIGRO!-
Estoy tan entusiasmada con el dia hoy que decidi postear mis queridos soles de fieltro, que estan brillando sobre la ciudad hoy. Es tan facil jugar con los colores y las formas! Los llevo todo el año, para animar hasta el dia mas oscuro.

Germany, here I go!

For me, there´s nothing more stressy than packing! especially when it´s winter. I´m never sure of what to take... what if it´s rainy/sunny/snowy/windy?!

My little Mikachus, partners in crime, are starting the journey soon, and soon will be at their new homes. The invasion is about to begin! (once again)

No hay nada que me estrese más que hacer la maleta! especialmente cuando es invierno, porque nunca estoy segura de qué llevarme... y si llueve/sale el sol/nieva/me lleva el viento?!
Las pequeñas Mikachus, complices, empiezan el viaje conmigo pronto, y pronto estarán en sus nuevas casas. La invasión está a punto a empezar!! (otra vez)

Mario for Miguel

A colleague of mine from work asked me to make a brooch for her little son, Miguel, who apparently is a big fan of videogames, especially of Mario Bros. When looking for something original it happened that Miguel already had a fancy Mario moustache (OUCH! was a nice idea, tho), so I came across the pixeled classic Mario, and the final result was this:

(and bravo for Miguel, fan of the classics, even if he is only 4!)

Una compañera de la oficina me pidió que le hiciera un broche de fieltro para su hijo, Miguel, quien es un fan de los videojuegos, sobre todo de Mario Bros. Cuando buscaba imagenes que me dieran alguna idea original resultó que Miguel ya tenía un bigote bueno de verdad (OUCH! era una buena idea para regalarle), asi que encontré un Mario, de la versión original del juego, y el resultado es el de la foto de arriba.

A que quedo bien! que opinan?
(me alegro mucho que Miguel, con solo 4 añitos, sea fan de los clasicos)
