BOOMBOX

I just arrived home after 2 weeks in Germany. What a wonderful country! I´ve been visiting Köln, Stuttgart and Baden-Baden... even tho I already been to those places several times, I enjoy discovering new shops, corners, parks, caffees, brands, people. My excuse is always the same one, visiting people... but this time there was something new: attending the Beatsteaks´ gig @ Universum, a cool club in the heart of Stuttgart.

First, the soundcheck. It felt like a private gig, only the sofa was missing in the middle of the venue. Later, the place was crowded with 250 fans and the band started playing the songs of the new album -out now-: BOOMBOX.
I don´t know if you are into punk-rock, I definitely wasn´t before giving this band a go. It was in Nottingham in 2008, where I was studying. I saw them at the basement of Rock City, a famous venue. They are so cool, friendly, charismatic... extremely popular in Germany, and luckily enough they sing in english. I spent last week singing their last single "Milk and Honey" and goes like... "this is the song for those who never ever sit back and recover [...]"

Acabo de llegar a casa después de 2 semanas en Alemania. Que país! Visitamos Colonia, Stuttgart y Baden-Baden... y aunque ya estuve por esas ciudades varias veces me encanta descubrir nuevas tiendas, rincones, parques, marcas, gente. Mi excusa es siempre la misma, visitar amigos, pero esta vez había algo más: ir al concierto de Beatsteaks en Universum, un club situado en el corazón de la ciudad de Stuttgart.
Primero, la prueba de sonido. Parecía un recital privado, solamente faltaba el sillón en el medio de la sala. Después el lugar se lleno de 250 fans y la banda empezó a tocar las canciones de su nuevo album, ya a la venta: BOOMBOX.
No se si te gusta el punk-rock, personalmente a mi no me gustaba hasta que le dí una oida a esta banda. Fue en 2008, cuando estaba estudiando en Nottingham, y los ví tocando en el sótano de un famoso club de allí, el Rock City. Los miembros de la banda son geniales, amables, carismáticos, populares en Alemania, y por suerte cantan en inglés. Me pasé la semana pasada entera cantando el primer single del nuevo disco, "Milk and Honey" que dice así: "this is the song for those who never ever sit back and recover [...]"
Subo algunas fotos y el video de la canción. Espero poder verlos en vivo otra vez muy pronto!
La afterparty tambien fue increible, pero esa es otra historia :)

Baby happiness

Hello people!
I'm still in Germany and kicking it tonight... does anyone know a band called Beatsteaks?! You definitely should give it a go ;)

Anyway, today's post transports me to my childhood. My parents are the real artists of the family, and I remember these beautiful frames they used to make for decorating my baby room, full of happy designs, made by hand with rests of fabrics and wool. A friend of mine asked me for some wall decoration for kids room, so I decided to post the ones my parents prepared last week. They can be placed on a table or be hanged on the wall. There are 3 different sizes/prices. Each frame has a different design of the rest, so all of them are special! And more important, we can prepare a personalized design for you.

Todavia estoy en Alemania, y esta noche la armaremos.. alguien conoce una banda llamada Beatsteaks?! Definitivamente merecen una oida ;)

Bueno, el post de hoy me transporta a mi niñez. Mis padres son los verdaderos artistas de la familia, y siempre me acuerdo de esos cuadritos que hacian para decorar mi habitacion cuando era chiquitina. Se trata de bonitos diseños de paisajes, hechos a mano con restos de telas y lanas. Una amiga casualmente me pidio que hiciera algo para decorar la habitacion de un bebe, asi que decidi publicar las fotos de un par de cuadros que teniamos hechos.
Pueden ser colgados de la pared, o simplemente puestos sobre una mesilla. Estan disponibles en 3 tamaños/precios. Cada cuadro tiene un diseño diferente, lo que hace que cada uno sea especial. Y mas importante, podemos personalizar un diseño para ti.

Köln shines!

Today I woke up in Cologne, and what a surprise: the sun was shinning! Don't know if so far, I had a terrible bad luck, but it was cloudy, rainy and cold all the time. And today it's just beautiful (and cold, of course). I recommend you coming to this city. It's big, full of little shops where you can browse between clothes of famous labels such as Zara, COS, H&M... to independent designers, especially from Scandinavia (which I admire for the simplicity of their clothes). Yesterday has been a successful shopping day... I love SALES! (who doesn't). The bad thing: didn't have time to go to a second hand shop yet. Let's see if we have time today... apparently my boy is planning a full night -DANGER!-
I feel so happy this morning that I need to post my beloved felt suns... they are shinning on this city today. It's so easy to match colours and play with the shapes. I wear them all year long, to cheer up even the darkest day :)

Hoy desperte en Colonia, y con que sorpresa!: el sol estaba brillando. No se si hasta ahora habia sido mala suerte, pero siempre esta nublado, llueve y hace frio. Y hoy esta simplemente lindo (pero frio, por supuesto). Les recomiendo darse una vuelta por esta ciudad. Es grande, llena de pequeñas tiendas donde revolver ropa de marcas famosas como Zara, COS, H&M... hasta diseñadores independientes, especialmente de Escandinavia (a los que adoro por la sencillez de sus diseños). Ayer fue un dia de compras bastante provechoso... Me encantan las rebajas (a quien no?). Aun no he tenido tiempo de pasarme por ninguna tienda de segunda mano, pero espero tener algun ratito libre... aparentemente mi chico esta planeando cosas para esta noche -PELIGRO!-
Estoy tan entusiasmada con el dia hoy que decidi postear mis queridos soles de fieltro, que estan brillando sobre la ciudad hoy. Es tan facil jugar con los colores y las formas! Los llevo todo el año, para animar hasta el dia mas oscuro.

Mikachu Fields Forever on Kireei!

A friend of mine told me about Kireei when I opened the blog, as a way to expand the business and get some inspiration for my work. I can tell lots of portals specialised on handcraft -illustrations, photography, knitting, accessories, decor, fashion, design...- but hardly any in spanish.
Happy to find this one, and see people of this side of the world starts valuing the dedication and originality of the work made by hand.

Una amiga mia me habló de Kireei cuando empecé con el blog, como una manera de promocionar el negocio y conseguir también inspiración para mis trabajos. Puedo recitar un montón de blogs y portales especializados en manualidades -desde ilustración, fotografía, tejido, accesorios, decoración, moda, diseño...- pero rara vez doy con alguno en español.
Me alegra haber encontrado este, y ver que la gente de este lado del mundo está empezando a valorar la dedicación y originalidad del trabajo hecho a mano.

Germany, here I go!

For me, there´s nothing more stressy than packing! especially when it´s winter. I´m never sure of what to take... what if it´s rainy/sunny/snowy/windy?!

My little Mikachus, partners in crime, are starting the journey soon, and soon will be at their new homes. The invasion is about to begin! (once again)

No hay nada que me estrese más que hacer la maleta! especialmente cuando es invierno, porque nunca estoy segura de qué llevarme... y si llueve/sale el sol/nieva/me lleva el viento?!
Las pequeñas Mikachus, complices, empiezan el viaje conmigo pronto, y pronto estarán en sus nuevas casas. La invasión está a punto a empezar!! (otra vez)

Mario for Miguel

A colleague of mine from work asked me to make a brooch for her little son, Miguel, who apparently is a big fan of videogames, especially of Mario Bros. When looking for something original it happened that Miguel already had a fancy Mario moustache (OUCH! was a nice idea, tho), so I came across the pixeled classic Mario, and the final result was this:

Una compañera de la oficina me pidió que le hiciera un broche de fieltro para su hijo, Miguel, quien es un fan de los videojuegos, sobre todo de Mario Bros. Cuando buscaba imagenes que me dieran alguna idea original resultó que Miguel ya tenía un bigote bueno de verdad (OUCH! era una buena idea para regalarle), asi que encontré un Mario, de la versión original del juego, y el resultado es el de la foto de arriba.

A que quedo bien! que opinan?
(me alegro mucho que Miguel, con solo 4 añitos, sea fan de los clasicos)

Feathers

I´ve never worked with feathers before, and I must admit that I had a lot of fun! there are so many colours, sizes, shapes and combinations. Crochet and feathers seem to make a perfect match.
A colleague of mine saw me at the office wearing this one in particular and came running saying "I need that". Ok girl, there you go. *happy bunny* :)
I love how it looks on a tshirt, but on my opinion it would look especially good on a green wool coat I bought this winter.

Nunca trabajé las plumas antes, y tengo que reconocer que me divertí un montón! hay tantos colores, formas, tamaños, combinaciones... Las plumas y el crochet parecen hacer una pareja perfecta.
Una compañera de trabajo me vió usando este broche en particular y vino corriendo diciendo "lo necesito". OK, aquí tienes :P encantada de la vida...
Me gusta como queda con una camiseta, pero va a quedar genial puesto en el abrigo de lana color verde que me compré este invierno.

Making contrast

Only a few days ago I showed you a bunch of flowers I made, and how inspiring they were. Well, sometimes I find it frustrating when going shopping and not finding any accessory which would fit the clothes we usually wear in winter: always black, gray, white... nothing really makes contrast and everything lacks imagination.
That´s how I made this necklace with colorful flowers made by hand, making contrast with a simple black t-shirt.
It´s just nice to keep it simple sometimes, right?

Hace unos días les mostré un puñado de flores que hice, y lo inspiradoras que resultan. Bueno, a veces me frustra cuando voy de compras y no encuentro accesorios que combinen bien con la ropa que generalmente nos ponemos en invierno: negros, grises, blancos... nada hace contraste y la imaginación brilla por su ausencia.
He aquí un collar que hice con esas flores tejidas de diferentes colores, en contraste con una simple camiseta negra.
No es genial también lo simple?

Up In The Air

Yesterday the day was sunny and not so cold, even if it´s winter. The only thing that could spoil this special photoshoot was the wind. 10 minutes took me to come up with some nice pics :)
Hope you like it, those crochet flowers are so inspiring, and can cheer any colourless look up!

Ayer el día salió soleado y no demasiado frío, aún cuando todavía es invierno. Lo unico que estropeó un poco esta "sesión fotográfica" especial fue el viento. Me costó 10 minutos sacar fotos decentes :)
Espero que les guste, estas mini-florcitas hechas a crochet son tan inspiradoras y coloridas, que pueden alegrar cualquier oscuro look invernal.

Winter Bunnies!

It isn´t a white winter at all! actually, it´s not even cold round here these days.
Anyway, I decided to go out and have a walk in the park. And I took with me some beautiful new friends, made by Bibi -my mom-. Totally handmade with cotton fabric and painted with... wait for it: coffee!

Chunky & Cute

No more shock, shock, shock!

I consider myself a very clumsy little person, and I already felt bad about crashing my old digital camera against the floor last New Years Eve 2010. So last week I was thinking "I´ve got to knit something chunky, solid and at the same time soft and cute"

Aaaand... here is the answer! There´s nothing a yarn and a hook cannot solve (aaaalmost!). Either a digital camera, and iPod Touch or a mobile phone. Isn´t it cute?

Me considero a mi misma como una personita terriblemente torpe, y ya me siento bastante mal por el hecho de haber estampado (por accidente) mi camara el año pasado mientras celebraba la Nochevieja. Así que la semana pasada pensé "tengo que tejer algo gordito, robusto y al mismo tiempo suave y lindo"

Y... he aquí la respuesta! No ha nada que una madeja y una aguja no puedan solucionar (casi)
Ya se trate de una camara digital, un iPod o un telefono movil, ¿No es bonita?
