beyond the sea

Yesterday I was playing around with yarns, after my good friend Yakumo sent me like 10 (?!) mails asking me to make some Amigurumis... I didn´t try that technique yet. So I started making a simple circle, that looked a bit funny, especially when several of them were put together..
The result: a weird "coral look" brooch, that I decided to make black and red, simply because the clothes I wanted to wear had those colors. My colleagues were kinda freaking out with my new accessory.
I was too... :)

DIY: recicled glove criatures

In this world there are people with tons of imagination and talent. More than I will ever have. Let´s be honest! I´m just a newbie in the crafty-world... ;)
We are lucky enough people sometimes wanna share their "know-how" with the rest of humanity and teach us how to make by ourselves nice things, which is by the way, ten thousand times better than actually buying an ITEM. That´s the power of creating something with our own hands and the satisfaction of our work.
Miyako Kanamori, and artist born in 1970 in Kanagawa (Japan), published in 2008 "Happy Gloves: Charming Softy Friends Made from Colorful Gloves" from where this little tutorial is taken. I found it at the ETSY blog, and here I share it with you... gotta take a look inside my drawers for an old pair of gloves...

HAVE FUN! <3

Liberty London: Prints

I´ve only been twice in London, while I was a student in Nottingham.
It´s one of my all times favourite cities (after Paris), and I cannot wait to visit it again someday... so interesting, open-minded and cosmopolitan.
Too bad I didn´t know of the existence of Liberty London at that time... a department store in the heart of the city. Or should I say it was good for my student economy not to spend hundred of pounds in beautiful fabrics and delicate home decor items :)
Now, Liberty is selling PRINTS! I think "how expensive can a poster be?". I really don´t want to know, I don´t need to know, but if one day I stop in London, I´m sure will buy 1 or 2... and a few meters of fabrics... and a tea cup.
Bye bye, money.

ps: the "I LIKE IT WHAT IS IT?" got me thinking... were they inspired by me? :)

Cupcake

I LOOOOOVE sweets!
it shows, uh?
Yesterday I found a pattern to make sweet cupcakes, and couldn´t stop crocheting since then! it took me a while, but it was completely worth it. I just need a nice place in my room to boast about this little and fluffy piece. OF CAKE!

Human vs. Machine

I always wanted to use my sewing machine more often, but I´m a bit clumsy and I don´t want to waste nice and expensive fabric :)
A good friend of mine was expecting a little girl, so instead of buying any impersonal boring item, I decided to do something myself. Never made any item for babies before, so I started with a pattern I found on the net... and here you have: my first BIB! :)

It was super easy to do, and I was so proud of myself that I made 6 in a day! I was sorry I didn´t buy more towel... I would definitely try to sell those! I must admit it´s a bit addictive haha...

Hope you like them! :)

Watercolor inspiration

I am an amateur when it comes to watercolors. Have to admit I didn't try too hard yet, and so far I only used them to colour the back of paper broochs or paint some funny things on birthday greetings cards. I always felt fascinated about the effects created with water, those amazing fading shadows, so naive! I proposed myself to get into it asap, since right now my new work in Germany is doing good and gives me enough free time to spend it on myself, my boy and my hobbies.
Here some inspiration, all on Pinterest:

Chloe

This is my baby, my partner in crime: my cat Chloe.

She loves playing with feathers, jingle bells, and having naps on my felt and sweaters.
I thought I might just introduce her to the blog space... because life wouldn´t be so funny without her good morning "meows"

Frame, not confetti!

Hello friends!

I´m taking a sort of "handcrafting holiday" this weekend, since I´ve been working like crazy the last two weeks. Luckily enough (or not) I still have to learn quite a lot of german, ´cos my final exam is next week and I´m sort of... nervös. The weather is not stable yet, so it´s helping me focussing on the things I REALLY have to do, which means: no beach for me this weekend!.

I haven´t posted anything "deco" lately, so here I show you what I´ve done a few weeks ago. My parents love making framed landscapes, and I kinda felt curious, and inspired for a moment, so I made this with rests of fabric and felt. Someone told me that I should make confetti with those little pieces of felt, but even when I find the idea super nice, have to admit it would be a lot of work! ;)

If you have any question about the frame: price, shipping, sizes... write me! :)

See you soon!

Summer Closet

After some weeks of rain, clouds, sun, storm, cold, wind (crazy weather!) seems like the spanish summer is back. Today we have 31ºC and the sun is shinning without a single cloud in sight. Amazing, isn´t it?
And yes, I was surprised by this weather so I had to take an emergency look inside the boxes where I store all my summery clothes. Have to admit that I´m quite a trousers kind of person in winter, but when the warmth is here... I´m just the opposite: in my closet I only hang light, colorful dresses (some of them second hand), thin cardigans and pashminas.
But if there´s something that I hate... is changing my closet! So far I´ve been out, or busy, or had lots of homework to do. Seems like next weekend I won´t have any excuse.

Did you sort your closet already?
Wish me luck! :)

Increible, no?

Deseenme suerte!

Palm Trees

Hey there!
As summer is aproaching I prepared something cool to celebrate the sunny and warm days are here again. Every winter seems to be endless to me, I know I´m not the only one, right? :)
So, after browsing through the box where I keep all the precious Lego pieces I made this pair of Lego summery earrings, which consist in a palm tree leave, a blue flower, and a green or orange circle.
You know as with all the rest of the handmade items I post in my blog, you can buy them if you like. Write me if you have any question, and remember this is a limited edition and only a few pairs are available! ;)

Thanks for visiting Mikachu Fields Forever!

Nature of Baden-Baden

I told you a few weeks ago already that I´d be uploading some pictures of that little place called "Baden-Baden". It´s really shocking, in a good way, how impresive and beautiful nature can be. Maybe it´s the fact that there are no such landscapes where I live right now... or maybe it just reminds me to my childhood in Argentina. I never get bored of it: in winter is almost always covered by a layer of white snow, where you can stand in the middle of the night with eyes closed, while listening to the silence. And in spring it seems like waking up from a long sleep... the flowers bloom and the trees fill the place with graceful green.

The architecture of the place is beautiful too, sophisticated and traditional at the same time. Weird enough, all the pictures I made of the city centre were taken with the analogic camera, so I have to wait a bit to have them in my hands. I´ll upload some as soon as I digitalise them.

Hope you like them!!

Cozy Apple #2

Experimenting: two different yarns, similar colors, a bit narrower on top.
Size: XL. I had to take the biggest apple of the basket.
VERY GIRLIE ;)
Happy sunday!

Feliz domingo!

PANCAKES!

(american)

I never had pancakes in my life, you know, the fluffy, spongy, soft ones (often seen on the movies!), and some of my friends were freaking out about it. What´s the deal!? haha... I´m not a very "kitchen" person, but checked out a few webs (there´s nothing Google cannot find) till found an easy recipe that didn´t sound too pretentious.
For those who never prepared pancakes before and feel a bit curious -just like me- here is the recipe. Just mix all the ingredients together and put some butter or vegetable oil in the pan. Once the pan is hot enough put the desired amount of batter inside and turn around when the bubbles are coming up.

- 1 egg (beaten)
- 3/4 cup of milk
- 2 tablespoons of melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt

How would it taste if I include a spoon of cinnamon? next time I will definitely try that out ;)

Suerte!

where ´s the apple?

Yesterday I stayed browsing blogs untill late (VERY late) but that´s not a surprise. Everytime I start doing it I cannot stop: one cool blog directs you to another one that is way too cute to stop looking. Between all the amazing things I found I discovered the "apple cozy". "WHAT IS THAT FOR?, DO APPLES GET COLDS OR WHAT?", asked myself. Well, obviously no, but how many times I threw my apple inside my bag before work and found it full of bruises afterwards?

EUREKA!

Found a pattern online and went for it... it took me a bit, but finally came with a decent result. At least for a first try is not THAT bad... :P

what do you think of the "apple cozy"?
do you know any other way of keeping your apples safe from evil keys/books/phone inside your bag?

Heartbeats

Hey people! my friends and I had an AMAZING week in Valencia! I don´t know if you heared about the festivity of FALLAS, but I will definitely talk to you about them soon, and show you some pictures too ;)

A few years ago, when I was student, ERASMUS student in England (the time of my life!) a very special person showed me the lovely music of a half swedish-half argentinian songwriter called José Gonzalez, and I instantly felt caught by his simple and beautiful lyrics. First heared "Hand in your heart", which is by the way a sad song, but then I discovered I heared this guy somewhere else before. I am sure many of you saw on TV a spot by Sony, the advertisement of the BRAVIA tvs, where thousand of colorful rubber balls jumped down the streets of San Francisco. "Heartbeats" is the name of the song originally written by "The Knife", and definitely one of my favourites of all times.
Well, this week we discovered another cover version of that song by a great english singer, the blond cutie Ellie Goulding. I cannot really decide which version I like the most, but who cares? It´s still a beautiful song.

One night to be confused
One night to speed up truth
We had a promise paid
Four hands and then away

Both under influence
We had a divine sense
To know what to say
Mind is a razor blade

To call for hands of above
to lean on
Wouldn't be good enough
for me, no

One night of magic rush
The start a simple touch
One night to push and scream
And then relief

Ten days of perfect tunes
The colors red and blue
We had a promise made
We were in love

To call for hands of above
to lean on
Wouldn't be good enough
for me, no

To call for hands of above
to lean on
Wouldn't be good enough

And you, you knew the hand of the devil
And you, kept us awake with wolves teeth
Sharing different heartbeats
In one night

To call for hands of above
to lean on
Wouldn't be good enough
for me, no

To call for hands of above
to lean on
Wouldn't be good enough

if you like the Sony advertisement, I recommend you to see the making of, just by clicking here.

And this is the live cover version by Ellie Goulding for the BBC Radio 1:

Rainy saturday

Hey there!
It´s saturday and I´m staying in cleaning and sorting my room. Next week I´ll be hosting two good friends of mine, who come from abroad to pay me a visit. Sadly, the weather right now doesn´t seem to be very springy, but at least the rain forces me to stay in and do what I have to do: cleaning "this mess", also known as "my bedroom".
Hoodie, jeans, tea in one hand, cloth in the other.
Oh wait, I´m gonna take a break and walk around the house, picking up what Chloe (my cat) has stolen... little papers, necklaces, yarns...

Lego broochs

Hello folks!

I´ve been quite busy these days, preparing orders and learning deutsch... and playing with Lego, of course. Here I post some pics of the last broochs I made. And with one of them you are gonna have to use your imagination since it´s just an abstract form, but I find it cool and original ;)
The others: robot, car... and a kind of weird airplane.

Hope you like them! Feel free to write me of you have any question ;)

Hello friends!
Today I wanna talk to you about a blog I just found and... I´m LOVING it.
What happens when two french friends with a lot of talent with illustrations and ceramics get together?

choux+scratchy

I have to say that I would buy every single piece they publish in their blog!
Wouldn´t you eat them all? ;)

Hola amigos!
